Hi Guys

I'm looking for some help in terms of being able to take some card payments at DSC this year. The terminal we have from the UK shows up on the buyers transaction list as having taken place in the UK so they cancel the payment thinking it is dodgy.

I was thinking if there was a solution like an I Zettle or the cube that might be usable for us and what the requirements would be.

Anny suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Rgds,
K

I believe the cube requires good cell service and the service inside the convention center is pretty spotty. Give me a day or so and I'll see what I can come up with.

Kiri,

Can't you have the payment go to a US account in Athena's name? That would seem the easiest to my technologically challenged brain.

A US account is gonna be the obvious answer, but I have no idea how much of a PITA that will be for you to set up.

Perhaps you need a US based partner? Wink

Chase, Citi, Barclays, and others all have offices on both sides of the pond.. If you have an account with any of them, that's is the place to start.

Hi guys,

Getting a U.S. Account is not too much hassle. In fact Dig already has one.

What I need is something like a cube or some such that can work through WiFi perhaps?

Karl, anything you can suggest would be great.

K

You can use the pay pal app and their mobile card reader.... But you will need internet.... WIFI is fine if you can get that.

After a bit of digging, I have determined this: rental (traditional) card readers are available but require a phone line or WIFI, WIFI is available at the convention center but cost around $100.00 per day (but is free in the lobby, for what that is worth), most of the exhibitors I spoke with about this use the Square (https://squareup.com/reader) and say they are very satisfied with the way it performs and a couple of them have accounts in New Zealand or South Africa. I've been told that the Square now has an "office' mode that doesn't require cell service to complete a transaction but don't know how that might work. Regarding cell service, I have also asked that the convention center have steps taken to assure cell service throughout the hall. We'll see how that works out...
Hope this is somewhat helpful.

The cardholder need only call the issuer's customer service that they are going to run up the chrge with a UK company. After their identity is verified, the charge will be honored.
