I'm on kind of a crusade for a good book as well, would you say Will's book is in the big league or small fry? Seriously does Will's book offer something for the table or just the same-o same-o?

Will's book is a very good read and a nice mix of adventure and technical info. It's pricy as smallish books go but well worth it...and, heck, he'll even autograph it for you.

I halfway through my second read of the book and it's just as good as the first time I read it.

One of my favorites - no make that my favorite from the latter day classic period of safari in the 60's to 70's period is Brian Marsh's "Barron in Africa". The semi-biography of Warner Von Alvensleben of Safarilandia Mozambique. Ole Warner was quite a guy and the book would have been a much better Redford vehicle than "Out of Africa"! A real page turner with non-stop truelife adventure.

Bartle Bull's book - "A Chronicle of Safari".

Also, in the Books forum, the early posts from a few years ago list a bunch of very good books - I have been using that as my list to pick from.

Just received "Under the African Sun" by Dr. Frank Hibben. Into the 4th chapter and it is quite good, he is the oldest living Weatheby award winner.

"Heart of an African Hunter" by Peter Flack.

Try:
Kenneth Anderson - "Maneaters and Jungle Killers", Nine Maneaters and One Rogue", "Jungles Long Ago", "The Tiger Roars" mostly India cat hunting

Anything by Burger, Corbett and when you say Capstick hope that includes his Reprint Library which were all greats!

Another group you might try is "Mambas and Maneaters" by CJP Ionides, "Snake Man" by Wilkes and "Life with Ionides" by Margret Lane - Not as much hunting but great general African story telling.

I´ve read quite a few of the abovementioned and thay are all worth a good read.

A while back I bought a book by Mark. C Ross "Dangerous Beauty" and even though it doesn´t concern hunting it´s quite a read.

I bough it by mistake as I thought it was about hunting Roll Eyes
