Clive and I have resigned from HHK and have started our own company Hallamorehunt. We have acsses to first class hunting in the Zambezi Valley and Forestry areas in Zimbabwe, as well as plains game at Lemco.

All hunts will be conducted by ourselves personally. If we have to use a third pro he will be selected by us.

We are very excited about our new venture and hope that the loyalty given to us over the years by you the agents and the clients will continue. Our aim is to run personalized safaris and to continue with our family hunts which have been a great success over the years.

Wow

Way back when, one of the H's in HHK stood for Lou "the legend" Hallamore. He has not been a partner for a very long time.

Not sure what happened, but Lou and Clive are two of the classiest acts in Africa.

While I do not know if it is true, I have been told that HHK has not paid its PH's for months.

Good for you Lou and Clive.
Just like any other business, being your own boss is the best.
Nobody can tell you 5 min after 7 " put that coffee down and get your ass to work " besides paying you after they get paid and so forth BS.

I emailed him this morning and told him it was about time! I wouldn't give HHK a red cent of my safari money.

I emailed Clive and told him the same thing! Booked my first hunt to Zim through HHK and one of their "owners" told me to eff off two years later when I had not received my trophies.
Glad for Clive and Lou!!!

Lou - I wish you all the success in the world going forward. Mike Payne introduced me to you last year in Dallas, and you autographed your book "Chui" for me. Your book was an inspiration for my hunt with Mike earlier this year - he can fill you in on the details.

First off I hunted with Lou in 2002 (daughter along) and again in 2008 (son) for a total of 42 days. Also spent time in camp with him and Clive while hunting George H. I booked the 2008 full bag hunt so my son could experience "Lou".

I consider him a great hunter, a gentlemen, and a good friend. Clive is a chip off the old block. I am happy for them as they will book many days and do well.

HHK has always treated me well. I also heard stuff about money problems.

BUT-----They have some great PH's on left staff who need work also. Good guys who don't need us slamming and rumoring HHK. Many book their own hunts and have loyal customers. I have hunted with Ross Johnston twice. Great PH. Believe me, they can't afford to lose customers on rumors spread here. If they don't get paid they will leave.

Let's leave this as a congrats guys to LOU and CLIVE, rather than a HHK bash..

Good Luck to Lou and Clive and as mentioned Ross is an excellent PH. Been across the river from HHK I can tell you that they have had a pretty good season in the South!

Subject: End of year

To the Faithfull,

2013 is just about over, can’t really say I am going to miss it, some time back it was also Friday the 13th,. The thought crossed my mind this is not the day to get smoked, I was even nervous of the Francolin getting up following a Buff through the jungle.

Great hunting this year with super clients as usual ,the highlight was two Leopards in two consecutive hunts , Don Kurth and Ian Gore ,these were the first two of the year, to me there is nothing more exiting when Chui arrives ,the ultimate. Cats are fickle and can put one under severe pressure. How about eight females on bait and no male in 14 days, the only good thing about the hunt was the company, Peter and I have done this three times. Mention must be made of Dick Murrays Buff, Karl Evans Buff and John Turners Sable and Buffalo both quality trophies. 57 1/2 Kudu and a very long and hard hunt for Elephant scoring just before the hunt finished with Brent Hickey. The highlight of that hunt a three x three was a 7ft six inch Leopard weighing in at 180 pounds taken by Kenny Jim Mackey guiding outstanding.

The event of the year was the resignation of Clive and I from HHK for various reasons, reason number one freelance hunting certainly in Zimbabwe [I have been doing this longer than anyone here] is not viable any more. In the old days I worked on 100 days to break even, in this day and age 120, anything over is profit. To find 120 days is becoming increasingly difficult.] Zim believe me is a very expensive place to live in E.g. Betsy the Land Cruisers gear box packed in, how about 7 Gs later. The second reason HHK has down sized, and there is not a lot of room for marketing our own clients as an agent, this really is where your bread and butter is as a pro. For myself pretty nostalgic as I was one of the original Hs. Our sincere thanks to Jennifer, Jules and the girls for your support we love you guys lots.

The good news Clive and I have started our own Company, Hallamore Hunt. We have acsses to first class hunting in the Zambezi and Forestry for big game and Lemco for plains game. All hunting will be conducted by us on a personal basis; if we have to use someone else as in a 3x3 we will use our own choice of pro. Family hunts have been great for us and we will continue this line. We are excited and are aware the first year will be hard, however with the help of the clients and the agents we will make a go of it. In passing we have had a huge response on email from the faithful we truly thank you all. The web site will be up on the 20th of November

I am happy to report that Zim is as quiet as can be and all the clients who hunt here note this. Disregard the bs about safety, we are way safer than South Africa, read the internet you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work this out. The SA farmer is now rated as the 4th most dangerous job in the world.

Democracy in Africa believe me doesn’t work, you need a leader who rules with an iron fist, example Tito in Yugoslavia when he left it turned to s------- I am not saying for one moment our illustrious leader is the way to go but you get the gist.

With Botswana closing and Zambia there will be 425 less Elephant to sell so this will become a high priced commodity. Huge pressure from the tree huggers with regard to cats is on the horizon ,already the cost of wilderness lions has escalated in the last few years, I urgently urge you guys to get the three behind you before it’s out of hand.

Year after year I see problems with equipment with clients, the number one issue is foot wear, guys other than your rifle this the most important part of the deal, make sure you have the right boots. They must be worn in and they must be quiet, in some cases we might as well have had the Regimental band playing in front of us [no offence intended]

We will be in Dallas at the Trophy Consultants International Booth 0650 and at Vegas at the Safari Services Africa Booth no 2153

As always my thanks to you guys for your support without you no plot and also to my bride of 43 years she invented the word patience.

Have a wonderful New Year and a great Xmas. See you at the sharp end.

Best regards,

Lou
