I just received the latest African Hunter Magazine and was distressed to read that Don Heath will no longer be the editor. Especially since he had the good sense to publish two of my articles. I can only hope his successor is as enlightened. Well done Mr. Heath and good luck in all your future adventures.

Mike: I agree. Don will be missed. Ira will be a great editor. He is the one that made the call on publishing my first article in the current issue of AH that you refer to, and which is found in one of today's AR posts. Interestingly enough, Ira is from Reno, Nevada but has lived in Zimbabwe for 30+ years. If Don has faith in Ira, I am sure that he is the one for the job.

Ira is a long time friend and far more literate than I ever was – and a better editor. He has edited our local shooting ‘spurious rag’ ever since I can remember and has a very wide range of experience with wildlife in Africa. A good man,in tough times as well as good, and one of my closest friends.

I will still be writing for the magazine-The current change in career path having been dictated by uncle bob and the needs of family rather than any issues at the magazine – one doesn’t ask one of your best friends to take on a job you are unhappy with!

Ira’s style and, importantly, his sense of humour, will begin to make itself felt on the magazine this year and I hope he will be able to take the magazine forward to the 80 page mag of first class content that I had always hoped for.

You did a fabulous job as editor I think, you will be missed.. You write under location: Zimbabwe/Sweden...? What is your connection to Sweden - if I may ask..?

Hopefully the new job will not require you to write anything other than your name on the back of the payroll check you are stealing each month.

Seriously, I am going to miss your monthly editorial in the magazine. Ira is a good man, but your contribution as editor will be missed.
