I am a disabled wheelchair user, and I was wondering if anyone of the members who would know of a guide that has experience guiding hunters bound to wheelchairs. Ideally, I would like to hunt in a blind.

I'm thinking of planning a trip in 2008.

I can't add any personal knowledge, but I have seen photos of some magnificent african trophies taken by hunters in wheelchairs.

Not long ago, on another forum, I had en exchange with Shakiri - Steve Robinson - a member here and a PH, about accomodating disabled hunters. He has some experience, if my recolection of the exchange is accurate. Either way, if he does great, if not he may be willing or know of an outfit or PH who specializes in it.

You might try sending him a PM, or an email since his adress is at the bottom of his signiture.

Best,

JPK

Ultimate Africa Safaris. Stand 585 Mopane Rd - PO Box 224, Victoria Falls - Russell Caldecott. 013 - 2275. 2275. PSO 0030

Russ is in a wheelchair himself and was doing hunts for disabled hunters when I stayed with him before and after my hunt. His energy level was amazing.

Is that the same guy that owns "Ultimate Safari Lodge"? I heard he used a wheel chair and ran a top notch lodge

Russell does indeed operate the Utlimate Safari Lodge and he outfits for disabled hunters. He is quite a piece of work, I stayed at his lodge in 05 for a night and quite enjoyed his company. I am not sure but I believe he does his hunts from his lodge. He is well known throught Southern Africa. I have not heard a bad word about him. He sold the lodge and had to take it back as he held the paper and is now restoring it to its former condition. He was a full time PH when he rolled his land cruiser and was then confined to his chair. I just found his card and no web site shown but email ultimate@africaonline.co.zw.
