Over the years I have been to both, but have not gone to either show for the past several years. While they are a recent memory, what are the pluses and minuses the each show???Planning to go to one next year.....THANKS

SCI show pluses - it's bigger
SCI show minuses - it's more expensive, and Reno is not as easy to get to compared to Las Vegas.

DSC show pluses - it's almost as big as SCI's show now, the venue is just right for the theme, and it's less expensive overall to attend (food, lodging, transportation are all cheaper)
DSC show minus - there are not many hunting slots left after the feeding frenzies at SCI.

Next year DSC will be before Reno so there will be plenty of hunts to buy if not already booked ahead.
Dallas is a much more laid back convention and all the major players are there just like in Reno along with a few regional folks too.
Prices are less as already stated. Easy to fly in and out thanks to the second or third largest airport (landings and takeoffs) and a great assortment of AR members having a damn good time to boot!
You all come on down to the Lone Star State and have a great time.

Javier almost had a coronary from us wanting to put 42 people in his place on a Friday night this year! Everything went through with flying colors, though. I expect he'll be glad to have us back. Uh, that is unless somebody did somethin' I don't know about.

Seriously, having the DSC before Reno has been the practice in the past. I don't know why (for sure) it was moved to post-Reno for 2006. Next year we're back to having it before ... Yay!

The dates for next year's Dallas Safari Club convention are January 12-14, 2007.
