I have been off the boards for about a week, and when I got back on, the first board I always check is the African Hunting Board. I always like reading about African Hunting Topics.

Lately it seems that the board has gone to hell, posts about Chronographs, Voting No on Gun Control Issues in Ireland and The Ugliest Model 70 stock.

Do people not know that there are off topic boards, reloading boards, and politic boards?????????

I enjoy reading posts from T.Carr, 500 grains and many others that are AFRICAN RELATED. What is going on????????????????????????????

Can Saeed or one of the other moderators DELETE these things.

Just my .02

Sorry if I offended anyone, but I believe that this is the best board out there and would like to keep it that way.

I am relatively new to this web site, and I can understand your lament. So I will add a few thoughts. Africa is, to me, the valhalla of hunting destinations. I am not as well off as many appear to be who frequent this site, but I have no complaints. I have been to Africa 6 or 7 times, and long to be able to go back. I have taken many species of plains game and a wonderful lion. I have hunted with, and met, hospitable and gracious people. And you make a good point. This thread should be devoted to things of Africa, and leave the rest to others.

I agree with you.

I have asked our members many times before that we should post relevant subjects in the African Forum.

I suspect many people have the tendency of posting irrelevant subjects because this is the only forum they frequent.

We do try clean up those irrelevant subjects, but, sometimes there is so much activity on the forum, and we do not log in as often as we like, that some of these threads pass through our nets.

Thank you Saeed.

I greatly appreciate all the hard work and efforts you and your moderators put into this board, and thank you for giving us a place to rant and rave about guns, hunts and letting us solve all the problems of the world. Wink

What do you do when somebody wont let a topic disappear? BTTT or worse the topic starter talks to themselves in order to keep the topic to the top of the forum.

Mr. Johnson. Just continue to ignore it. If they are talking to themselves then no one really cares anyway. I would like to see more about hunting on this forum and less BS bull

But I have to agree with MacD37. The net is like TV. If you don't like what you see, change the channel.

The average man's love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty; and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies.

There are MANY wonderful forums here on A-R to answer the gun questions, politics, etc. I use them. And find MANY very helpful folks there or learn just by reading folks questions.

I never could figure why people will post here about their gun projects, it belongs in Gunsmithing or Big Bores, etc.

LOTS of us read there, heck I do! I've met some wonderful people there and have gotten quite a lot of free help with out cluttering up the AFRICAN HUNTING forum.

I am occasionally a violator, but I have blonde hair so, well, I try and limit my errors.....Smiler

I apologize for venting but being here for a number of years now I too wish folks would direct their gun questions, etc to the appropriate forums. I like to read them and learn as well. I know most people who read here read the Big Bore forum and Gunsmithing, etc...

This is that time of year between the shows and this year's hunts. Don't worry, in about three weeks everyone will get into the work up for this year's hunts, and we'll be back on track. Kudude

Ann, I see this differently than you! That doesn't mean I'm right, and you are wrong, but still of a different opinion on the subject of your post!

The way I see it is, Anything to do with AFRICAN HUNTING is applicable to this forum. The fact is guns, and bows, travel issues, laws regarding firearms, and camps, and taxidermy, all used for AFRICA are of particular types, and are best discussed by those who use them.

The fact is you are right about strictly gunsmithing issues, like making a rifle feed, or chambering a new barrel, they do belong on the gunsmithing forum. However, there are many very well known gunsmiths who do not understand rifles that are best suited to African hunting. I would add that MOST gunsmiths do not fully understand double rifles, and the "NEW" double rifle forum, and African Hunting forum, are the best places to get info on this type of firearm.

Then you have the deer,Elk, and Moose hunting forums, there are many rifles, shotguns, and bows that only fit that neiche, and why would one stuff up a gunsmithing forum for specialty rifles use for that brackett of hunting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is AFRICAN HUNTING is not limited to hunting, but a whole persuit, that is very specialized, and the best information will be gleened in that forum, no matter the connection, be it rifle or pass port info! The same goes for EXOTIC HUNTING in the USA, I would never go to an african hunting forum looking for knowledge on that type of hunting, or the equipment needed for that purpose.

I ask you, takeing the large bore double rifle, for example, where do you think you will find the most people who know what you are trying to find out? You think it will be on a gunsmith, or deer hunting forum, or a place where the usesrs of that type rifle hang out?

I just see all firearms to be tied to discussions on their care, feeding, and use in a forum they were designed to used for, and where the people who use them are posting!

Could be wrong, but I've been wrong before, so no loss! beer

I pitty those who can't stand any clutter in their lives, and have to have everything in clean, neat rows, or they are not happy. These people miss, what I call, "friendly conversation". Conversation goes where ever the discussion takes you, and like a walk in the woods, you are going to miss a lot if you stay on the trail! Roll Eyes beer
