I have been poring over articles and reloading manuals about this cartridge as I think it is very interesting. When accompanied by my .300 Winchester Mag. (for plains game) I think it would make a fine large/dangerous game cartridge as well. The rifle would be a CZ 550 American. Any opinions on use of the 9.3X62 for cape buffalo? I would be using 320 gr. Woodleighs and ammo isn't a problem as I reload. Thanks for any replies.

I have not taken a cape with mine yet but it took both blue and black wildebeest and greater kudu this May in RSA. Great caliber but you do need thr right constructed bullet. You have a good one in mind.
Oh...put it in the right spot first of all! [Wink]

I have shot a number of Buffalo with the 9.3x62 using solids and the 320 gr. Woodleigh in both solid and soft...It is about as effective as a 375 H&H as far as I can tell, with a little less penitration....It is a fine caliber and soft on the shoulder..Some of my lady clients use them and with aplomb..There buff normally runs about 50 yds and "bellers"....

Howsomeever, I still prefer a 40 caliber....

The .300 WinMag and the 9.3x62 are too "close" energywise. The 9.3 uses heavier bullets, the .300 has a flatter trajectory.

.300 + .375, 9.3 only ( shots under 230 yds ), long barreld 9.3 and > 40 double ...

Just my 0.02 Hermann

I don't think I've ever seen the word "aplomb" used in a sentence before......thanks, Ray.
