mstarlingAugust Temps in Tanzania?

dakota45056In the Selous, maybe 55-60 F at night and 85 F during the day. Early in the morning, the trackers will have knit caps and gloves, but you can't use their standards as these same guys will have on full length overalls when it is 100 F too.

CanuckCheck out
WeatherUnderground forecast for Iringa, TzIringa was the closest town (to the Selous)with a weather station that I could find.
Go to the upper right corner and click on Trip Planner. Type in Iringa Tanzania, put in the dates you want, click submit, and it'll give you a summary of the historical weather data.
It looks like, for Iringa anyway, the average daily high was 73/74 for the last two weeks of August/first two weeks of Sept. The range was about 57degF to 84degF.
The overnight low average was 62degF, with a range of 53degF to 80degF.
Cheers,
Canuck

mstarlingCanuck,

JTHuntJust FYI Mahenge is close to Iringa in a straight line but at least 3000 feet higher in elevation. I would add a minimum of 10 deg. F. to any Iringa numbers. Mahenge will be warm to hot in the day - pleasant in the evenings and early mornings.

JTHuntSorry just read my post above - to clarify IRINGA is a lot higher than the Mahenge hunting area, it will be considerably hotter in Mahenge North than in Iringa.

CanuckThanks for the tip on the topography, JTHunt. Its impossible to tell from the crappy political maps I have.
Its too bad there is no weather station listed for Ifakara.
Cheers,

CanuckHere we go. I found a town that is much closer and is the right elevation....Morogoro. Wasn't on my political map, but I found it on Google Earth.
Here's the link to
WeatherUnderground for Morogoro, TzThe average highs and lows for the period from August 20 to Sept 15 is:
Average High Temperature is 81 F
historical range 64 F to 89 F
Average Low Temperature is 66 F
historical range 55 F to 84 F
So its definitely a little warmer that Iringa, but 7 or 8 deg or so. Its also more humid on average.
Hope this helps,
Canuck
