If I am passing through RSA on my way to Zim do I still need the outfitter letter of invitation? Has anyone used one of the permit expediting firms and do you know how much it costs and it is worth it? thanks guys

Are you checking your luggage and rifles all the way through to Zim? If you are claiming luggage it could be worthwhile. I used Riflepermits.com but there are several services. If you are getting the SAPS permit issued I believe you will need a letter from your safari company. Whether you use a service or not I recommend you have everything in hand and filled out in advance. Thanks Charles, I am having to spend the night before traveling on to Bulawayo so I guess that answers the question but you ask a good question re : the travel agent. I will double check with them. Thanks for the response...

you'll need your saps permits etc. like charles said. the assistance services help you speed up the process quite a bit, plus then when you go back through the next morning they escort you through. We use louis and the afton house all the time. last month when we went through we had a bit of an overweight thing with baggage, which they also got clear up. it costs you about 100 to use them & for us at least it was worth it. if you check down in african travel forum you'll find much info and can download the forms
