Great stuff. How about the story behind the pictures? Where are they from?

Hi ErikD,
The photographs are from Mamun's hunt in India, his place of birth. He now resides in Canada. This is about all I am at liberty to share with you, at this time. Glad to learn of your interest! Smiler

Thanks for the info Nick. I had an idea it was from that region. I hope we'll hear more in the future! Smiler

Am I missing something here? I thought India was closed to hunting?

I was born after the partition of British India and grew up with the left over hangovers of the Raj. We learnt to ride and shoot before we could realise that we were free Indians unlike our fathers and grandfathers. The water buff & the chital deer were hunted in the bay islands, while the serow was in the hill tracts.

Like all good things those days are over for good for me. My only regret is that I could not hunt the Gaur. We lacked good ammo and only soild ammo that I had for the 375 H&H was of 1950's with which I did not dare face the 1 ton animal at night. Most game is hunted after sunset as they venture out at this time, due to human encroachment during daylight hours. I will try and scan some more pictures for you all.

Very nice photos. Did you get a chance to hunt Tiger before the hunting was stopped?

Hello Mamun,

Good to know that you are well and thanks for posting these superb pictures.

Did the hunt take place in India or was it the Chittagong Hill tracts in Bangladesh?

Good to see you back, my friend, and thanks for posting. I hope that your good health would allow you to post very regularly.
