Been chattIng with leon a bit today. They moved him to Hospital in Harare.

He sent me some pictures and explained what happen.

Unless someone has a fetish for naked fat Dutch guys - the pictures they are pretty gross.

This is the first time being fat and having a big belly saved a life.

I told Leon a lifetime of overeating, smoking, drinking and being fat finally came in use.

All the visceral fat built over years came in full use. His fat around his organs and his belly saved his life.

He got fully gored by the bull with the horns going into the belly. The fat protected all organs. He nearly got disemboweled but all organs where protected.

He got gored a few times on his bum too. Buff was shot with him underneath and collapsed on him. This happen a few times. Finally one tracker grabbed buffalo by the tail and dragged the buff enough (basically inches) for the other tracker to drag Leon off from underneath the buff.

New advice get fat and build plenty of belly fat before you go to hunt buff. A thin ph would have been fully im-pailed.

And the other side of the coin is don’t get fat and be able to move faster to avoid being gored! clap

He sounds like my kind of guy.

Got a good sense of humor.

Tell him we all wish him well.

He does and he is also one tough guy.

I fully expect him at dsc in 2023.

He is also incredibly luck. Imagine a buffalo horn going into one gut and coming out of it without any internally organ injuries. Just hundreds of stitches.

It's a tough life as a DG PH. I'm glad to hear that he's getting better.

Still in the hospital and going thru multiple operations.

They opened all his wounds and cleaned everything up and sworn him back up.

The buffalo really did a number on him and him being alive and no organ damage is miracle.

After seeing his wound videos I have lost all interest in either hunting buffalo again.
