You make an interesting point regarding TN. Zuckerberg's new ethic(only eat what you kill) sounds a lot like the ethic Nugent has been promoting for years.

I smiled when Zuckerberg said, "People who eat meat, but want to ignore where it came from are irresponsible." Haven't we heard Ted saying that for years....

This whole thing reminds me of Madonna taking-up bird hunting. She said that there was "something fulfilling" about hunting then eating the meat from the animals you killed.

Us hunters have known that since the first caveman brought home meat after a successful hunt. It makes me smile when I hear a city slicker talk about discovering the part of his primal past that was lost when his ancestors began shopping in markets.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry

I have posted this before, basically the same wording, but while I do not really agree with Nugent and his actions that much, one comment he is credited with I believe, is something I agree with completely.

I believe it went something like this,"If Each Person In America Had To Kill And Clean A Chicken Annually, They Would Have A More Realistic Outlook On Their Place In The Scheme Of Life".

I probably don't have the saying listed properly, but if he did say it, I firmly agree with him.

It would be incredible if the TN ZBerg thing ever happened. Imagine, the guy who helped get Obama elected (if you doubt that you don't know the power of fb) and Ted Nugent killing deer and shooting the shit over a BBQ. Next thing you know he'd move fb to Texas and apply for a ClassIII license, buy a big truck and carry a Glock. Not a bad vision in my opinion...

I've been saying for a while we need to get more celebrites to hunt/appear on hunting shows. Not that I necessarily want to watch them myself, but that they would get more people interested in it. Look what Brad Pitt and "A River Runs Through It" did for fly fishing.

+1 Absolutely. I would hope someone would volunteer to take him to their deer camp, or similar, even take him rabbit hunting with beagles, whatever. This can only help and I think his conversion from vegetarianism is a great help for us, whether he eventually hunts or not.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

Annually should be changed to weekly as in every Sunday after church before you can eat Sunday dinner like it was when Dad was kid and part of my younger life as well...then...folks would get a realistic outlook. Smiler

BTW I read the linked article pretty thoroughly and I can't find anywhere it says Zuckerberg is "interested in going hunting."

Next to last paragraph.

"After the lobster, the next animal to fall at his hands was a chicken. What's next on this journey? He's told people that he's interested in going hunting."

You're kidding right? Right? Here is a young person, very influential in today's Pop Culture, who is making an effort to understand hunting instead of jumping on the "Hollywood" bandwagon to take sides with the animal rights activists and instead of encouraging the positive aspects of this development, you are bashing it?

Give me a F&#*^ing break! Where does this end? At what point are you encouraged to see something swing our direction for a change?

It's a good thing overall...now if he would just come completely out of the closet and not just stick his toe out. If he put up a video of himself shooting a bison, I might think about starting up a fb account...

I think it would be a good move for the people in the USA, UK,to be required to work one year on a working farm or ranch before getting their degree, no matter what they wanted to do for a living! I can guarantee they would know where food really comes from! NEVER CUSS A FARMER OR RANCHER WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL!

If Mr. Zuckerberg wants to go duck/goose hunting with me aNd my friends I promise that when he leaves the blind he'll be:

A lifelong waterfowl hunter
A lifetime member of the NRA
A lifetime member of DU
A lifetime member of Delta Waterfowl
He'll buy a yellow Labrador retriever
He'll apply for his concealed weapons permit
and
he'll buy the land my duck club is on and throw me out.
But he'll have a great time and we might even shoot a few birds which I'll show him how to prepare and cook.

(Well, he might do these things.)

When I was a kid you couldn't find anyone who knew how to cast a fly. Now the rivers and lakes are covered with fly fishermen who generally practice catch and release. They are also frontrunners in the movement to preserve and protect watersheds. I hope Mr. Zuckerberg joins the hunting ranks.

He said:

"This year, my personal challenge is around being thankful for the food I have to eat. I think many people forget that a living being has to die for you to eat meat, so my goal revolves around not letting myself forget that and being thankful for what I have.

That is what I have been telling DMFers for years(including my mom, sisters and bosses).

It seems that a huge number of liberal west-coasters don't grasp the concept that buying a frozen chicken/turkey makes them responsible for the death of a chicken/turkey. When you explain to them that removing a chicken/turkey from the store's stock means that another bird will have to be killed/shipped by the supplier the are dumbfounded.

I mean- THEY REALLY BELIEVE -that because it is already dead, they are in no way responsible for its death!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all, it was raised and killed for food........
