Starting to reload for my .375 H&H. Ive always used factory federal 300 grain bearclaws and sledgehammer solids. I choose barnes banded solids but what do you think of the 300 grain TSX for buffalo?

Won't be pretty.

For the buff.

I've used the TSX twice on moose and it didn't go well for them either time.

Just don't use the MRX version with the blue plastic tip. I had a bad experience with the blue tip coming off and actually jamming the action in model 70. I had tested this round, liked the accuracy and shot a few prairie dogs with it. I was mule deer hunting last fall, fired a shot, cycled the bolt and could not get the round to feed. I looked at the action and the little blue tip had come off the round and was wedged keeping the next round from feeding. I had to open the floor plate, drop the remaining rounds out, pull the spring out and pick the blue tip out with the tip of my knife.

My hunting "buddy" potted the deer when I could not follow up Frowner

No more plastic tips on my bullets after that mess up....

Gerry,

Knowing you are an old Zim hand that learned at Robby Martin's knee I'm sure I can't talk you out of the solids but from my expereince with the 270 TSX I can't imagine the 300 TSX would not be first rate buffalo medicine. I'm shooting everything with the TSX now and I'm very pleased in all respects.

Why not just wait and see what happens with the new TB Bear Claws? They might be pretty good!

IMO you can throw your solids away and just use the triple shocks . The last 3 buff hunts I've done were with triple shocks only with great results in 375 or 416. They are quite accurate and big time tuff.

I guess I will just buy a box and try them. You are right Mark, Robbie loved those solids, but I have since seen the difference a soft makes when its put in the right place. Never was able to drop a buffalo with a solid on the first shot but a soft really rattles them. Still have the magazine full of solids in case of trouble.
