robncoloradoSomething neat
I just got back from an appointment I had with a client. The meeting took place in his home. It was the first time I had been invited to his home which is a modest cabin in the mountains of southwest colorado. The client is a relatively elderly gentleman originally from Texas. On the walls of the home were various masks, photos, etc of various africana. But what caught my eye was a european mount of a Grants Gazel, with a metal tag that said " Grants Gazel, Somalia, 1965! I asked if it was his and he said yes. He and his wife had lived in Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia for many years in the 60's and 70's. He had hunted all of the above countries with various local friends he made. I thought it was really cool to chat with someone who had been so fortunate, in my eyes, to have enjoyed such adventure.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

robncoloradoAfter we met, I told him I would love to see some pics if he had any- he said he'd dig them up and have me over in the near future!
Rob, If you and your client are so inclined, a nice bottle of scotch or fine whiskey and a couple of good cigars would make for some great stories I'd bet. Well worth the price of admission.

Priceless. There may not be hunting again in Somalia, at least, not in my lifetime.
Somalia is a varmint hunters paradise- if pirates can be considered varmints.
