Bog,

It had only the following caption:

"'Self and some trophies shot in 1875', of a man posing with skins and antlers of all his kills . Wonder how long he stayed in India?"

Joe, Bravo - Glad you enjoyed!

Neat stuff and the three guys standing with bows..I have an old African bow and quiver full of poison arrows just like the bows in the picture..Its very old and a prize possession..along with some extremely well made OLD spears.

hva146,

They are "Siberian Hunters", as far as the photo title goes.(?)

Ray,
These are Ceylonese (natives of old Ceylon). The young fellow shouldering the swine, is a native of the Phillipines (Mindinaro?). The 3 men in the canyon bottom are Apache, as is the fellow using the shooting pole (I think).

I thnk you're right. Nansen spent a lot of time in northern Russia (Siberia).

Wonderful bag indeed, look at the markhor (several subspecies) and the blue sheep...

What a bag!

There is some resemblance, I think. The above photo was dated 1910 ... the hunting group as a whole, certainly don't look much like native Siberians! A very interesting observation on your part!
