I hunted in the Zambezi Valley mid July last year in the Nyakasanga section. My partner and I had a very sucessful hunt, resulting in a fair sized game bag. We decided to have our taxidermy done by Bromley Game Skin Tannery. Among our trophies are 4 baboons, one of which I had full body mounted.
Herein lies a possible problem. Bromley has our crate ready to ship, and upon contacting CDC I am being told that a USDA approved taxidermist must be used for baboons, monkeys, etc.
My question to all who have had recent experience shipping trophies back to the US, has this been an issue? How did you address the situation? Will I need to have the shipment sent to a USDA approved taxidermist in the US in order to have it signed off on or approved? (thereby of course, increasing an already expensive undertaking)
Thanks in advance for any responses, I won't even get into the wart hog issue here, but I think they will also require "special treatment". When I return to Africa next year, the trophies I will bring home will be pictures (except for the leopard).

There are others on this forum who will know much more about this than me, but I can only relate my limited experience. I had a baboon skull only shipped back here last year and had to have the CDC permit before shipment. Upon arrival an "approved taxidermist" had to be present to recieve the skull. Don't know about your area, but in Dallas the taxidermist had make an appointment with USFW or they will sometimes make you wait for quite a while.

Hi Widowmaker416
Thanks for the reply. I am in North Carolina and my hunting partner is in TN. We had planned to have the crate shipped to Atlanta, but have not made final plans. I appreciate the offer, and I will try to follow up with you offline as I try to make final arrangements. Do you approve the wart hogs as well?
