Interesting shot placement. Likely the best choice under the circumstances though...hopefully for Tarzan the picture shows it before the arrow has finished pentrating!

LMAO. An ape will die on every page! Classic. And here I thought the "whack 'em & stack 'em" theme in modern hunting shows was a recent phenomenon!

Two things I noticed about those covers: 1. Tarzan is looking far to the right of those buffalo. Could he be showing off for Jane? 2. Saxton Hale lost his shirt and most of his trousers, but he managed to keep his hat while faultlessly executing the dreaded and deadly shoulder blade stab. Bill Quimby

Hey, I'm old enough to remember "Brylcreem"! Or how about flat tops and butch wax?! By the way Ann, I don't think that it was the arrow shot that first caught your eye! LOL

Believe it or not its still made Brylcreem

Dang, you got me. Well, I also noticed Tarzan seems to be out of arrows and those buffalo look a little peeved. And those big leaves don't look like much protection. ~Ann

LOL You are obviously not a connoisseure of the finer arts of gorilla stabbing. That is ovbviously the "Over-the-shoulder reverse clavicle stab", probably with a half-twist, which was a favorite style of the time.
|
One of Us |
That half-twist is what made it such an art form. It's a shame, but contemporary gorilla stabbers now prefer the double axle even though it has much less class. :P Bill Quimby

Don't be silly chaps. It could only possibly work if it's a CRF stabber!

I seem to remember that Ruger use to advertise their .44 magnum rifle as a perfect fit for hunting gorillas...complete with graphics of a hunter bagging a silverback. Times, they are a changing. Dutch

Now where is that Tony Black?????? Apparently Savage marketed their rifles in this way too. Can't find a bigger version of this ad unfortunately.
