I just finished his book and it was very good. Does he have a safari company? Anyone know about it?

Dogcat.

Fred is a friend, and one of the competent old-time outfitter/professional hunters.

He is based in the Netherlands and has hunted professionally all over Africa. I don't know the name of his company, though. I do have his email address. If you are interested in corresponding with him I'll ask Fred if I can post it.

I have had his book since Rowland Ward released it a couple of years ago, but I'm ashamed to say I've not gotten around to reading it. I intend to do so this summer.

He was one of the more-literate authors submitting articles to Safari magazine when I edited it.

Bill,
THanks. If he is ok with it, I would be happy to contact him. You can PM me if you would rather.

If I remember correctly, he used to run, or PH for, Les Safaris de Haut Chinko.

He's an interesting fellow; I met him about 15 years ago, and he really seemed to know his stuff.

I believe he runs an ad in Hatari Times. I will check when I get home.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
