I think it is poor editing. There seems to be some frames missing that make it appear the PH shot first. | |||

I am 99% sure this is correct. Just before the PH shoots you can hear/see the client cycling his bolt. And it sounds like empty brass being ejected(maybe I am dreaming...). Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. I also think the hunter shot first and it is poor editing. However, if the PH did shot first I would have turned and congratulated him on his elephant and said can we go get me one now.
