Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......
"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

eriknymanGreat fun to follow this report with such nice photos. The last pic of the Black-Necked Spitting Cobra is amazing. One of the most scary looking snakes!

Ole Miss GuyThank you , again, for taking the time to share your hunt. I have enjoyed several years of your treks and this one seems to be as good as it gets, right up to the point where those darned ticks showed up. The Spitting Cobra is one thing, but those ticks are another.......

SaeedEveryone is having the time of their lives!
Rene is running a fantastic camp - despite me trying my best to sabotage everything!

Just got back to cam with a sable!
Having some snacks and coffee and heading out again.
Fantastic area, and we are enjoying discovering it.

Utterly fabulous Roan. Who was the lucky hunter ?
In the pics of Alan holding an aerosol can is he spraying ticks in the Buff's groin ? If so please tell why.
Looks like you guys are really hitting your stride now. Thanks for all the amazing pics and I hope your successes continue. Cheers.
It wouldn't be a Saeed safari post without a photo of ticks on a buffalo's scrotum.

SaeedWe spent yesterday either sitting in leopards blinds or refreshing baits.
Several have been fed on, but it seems the leopards here feed at leasure any time of day except daybreak or sundown!
Had a hyena come visit as we sat at one of the baits.
Victor shot a topi.
The buffalo are still evading Maktoum and his bow.
This morning we sat on a bait.
The leopard did not come, but we had a herd of buffalo pass right behind our blind.
Went looking for buffalo, found the tracks of a herd and followed it.
Walking in a small grassy valley, we were surprised by a lone dugga boy walking straight for us, not 35 yards away.
A shot to the head dropped him.
He is my last buffalo.
We have one more hunting day, and we head home on the 21st.

Nelson BGood morning Saeed. I am very happy because you are having a very good hunt and you are riding bicycle again. However the most important for today is to wish you a very happy birthday. I send you a big hug from Osorno, Chile.

SaeedThank you all for your good wishes.
Due to having two birthdays a year, and bonus one because our year is shorter, I am supposed to be 143!

We were supposed to go to a leopard blind early this morning, it had to abandoned it due to rain.
Also, Maktoum and Pete had us in fits last night relating their day.
Their truck got charged by a raging dugga boy!
The details are a bit confusing - hoping we might get a clearer picture later.
But, apparently everyone jumped out, and ran down a very steep hill!
Some ran for 600 meters!
While the buffalo decided to go in other direction, over the top of the hill.
A few new World Records in speed were apparently got established and broken!
