As many of you know, Owain was a PH for Chifuti Safaris. What a pleasure to know, long before a client hunting with Owain ever stepped off the plane, that he was going to enjoy not only the safari, but the company of a true old school gentleman.A very special man, a dear friend, and a presence that has been missed by all since his passing. I think of him often, and will certainly never forget times spent together...

I hunted with Mr. Owain in early 2012. He was indeed a very special man, dear friend, and old school gentlemen. I also think of him often and will never forget the memories of our hunt together. He was very patient and never passed up an opportunity to share his knowledge of the Lower Zambezi Valley's flora, fauna, and history. On several occasions, I questioned him regarding his choice of bush vehicle (Land Rover), lunch preparations (in the bush), etc. Without exception, he always responded "Tradition, my boy, tradition!"

A fitting tribute to a great PH and a wonderful man - I shared more than a few single malts with Owain around a mopane fire - we all miss him dearly.

Very nice indeed. My wife and I met him while hunting with our friends with Chifuti Safaris. I was hunting Lion, my friend Elephant, and my other friend Buffalo. Owain was the PH for my buffalo hunting friend and we got to listen to great stories around the campfires. Upon our requests, he showed us his double rifle, which I think was a 475 no. 2, if my memory is correct. Anyway, as many have already stated, he was a true gentleman and it was our honor to have met him.

Class.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

I saw it at the parks office last year in September. I believe Chifuti may have funded it along with the solar power for the parks office.

I am pretty sure that it was Tashinga Initiative - certainly not Parks- I know that TI installed the solar for the Parks office so it makes sense that they put the memorial there for Owen also.
