If you buy the Rogues in SA (or Africa) theyll only set you back about 400R, which is like 50$ (maybe?).

I tried sneakers on my last trip but a thorn went right through the sole. What brand do you use Mr Atkinson?

Minkman- Take a look at Cabela's Speed Hunter Boots. They are a rugged high topped tennis shoe and work well. I have tested them in Africa this year and have worn them bird hunting for two years now. They are light, have a somewhat quiet tread and are waterproof. Because of the outer shell, grass seeds etc. cannot penetrate and get into your socks. For 100 bucks, I think they are worth it!!

Try the kangaroo boots from Cabellas, they appear the same as the Brownings for alot less. They are very light and confortable and have used them on two trips to Africa

Well you didn't say where you are going to hunt and thats important...I like Tennis shoes or the Tennis type walking shoes, they dry out faster and give great comfort, I also wear short gaitors with them to keep grass seeds out of my socks....

Be sure an take two pair of hunting shoes, boots or whatever...I like the Wrangler horseshoes, and the stores are full of great boots that are much cheaper and every bit as good as the high dollar boots that seem to dominate the Safari crowd....

Try a pair of Georgia boots farm and ranch with 8" tops, they are soft and supple and dry pretty fast...or maybe the Wolverine boots..I like the Justin work boot about as well as anything....

Yes, I have worn the high dollar boots and it took me some years to figure out I had been gouged..With todays technology for boot making in the US, you don't have to pay $250 plus on a pair of boots to get quality....

I don't want gore tex for Africa, its too hot, but thats an individual decision...

I'd apply the same for "Safari clothing", what a joke, some look like a refugee from Cabelas, when you can buy a good Khaki shirt for half the price and a good pair of wranglers is hard to beat on Safari..Save that savings for trophy fees....

However, I supose for some the look is part of the game, especially on ones first Safari..Not everyone wants to look as ragged as Will!! I suppose I could add Saeed and self to that group so as not to hurt Wills tender feeling, he such a senstitive fellow.
