Body found after three days of search 26 September, 2007 KASANE - The body of a 23-year-old man who was attacked by a crocodile in the Chobe River last week has been found. The body was found along the banks of the river near the Kazungula Ferry after three days of searching by the police, Botswana Defence Force and wildlife officials. Supt Frankel Mhutsiwa of Kasane Police Station said the deceased was with four friends when he decided to take a swim in the crocodile infested river. Supt Mhutsiwa said the others said they cautioned the deceased about the dangers of swimming in the river. He said one of the friends said it did not take long before the deceased was snatched by the crocodile. Supt Mhutsiwa said the death of the man was the second crocodile attack in the area this year. He said a crocodile killed a nine-year-old boy in January in the same area, and his body has never found. He advised residents to stop swimming in the area or playing along the banks because there were dangerous animals in the river. He however acknowledged that many residents made a living out of the river through fishing. Last time I was in Botswana I took a boat tour on the Chobe. The guide pointed out the large Croc's lying on shore. Not to far down river was a group of kids swimming. | |||
