Guys,

Is there a "typical" trophy fee for Cape Buffalo in RSA? About what should we expect that to be?

Just trying to get my arms around approximate costs for a Buf hunt so that I know how far behind the 8 ball I am at the start ;>Wink

Thanks,

RSA is probably the most expensive and least wild Buff hunt you can buy, and you can really expect to pay around US$10000-$15000 for a Buff package inclusive of trophy fees.

Mozambique is probable one of the least expensive Buff hunts in a true wilderness area, and you can expect to pay around US$8500 for a 1x1 Buff package......but it is tough hunting.

Tanzania will offer you the biggest herds (and undisturbed game) in a TWA, and you can expect to pay around US$13000 for a 1x1 Buff package (at peak season)or US$9000 2x1 (early or late season) including all the taxes, fees and charters.

Botswana will be around US$13500 but you need to book early as they only have very limited quota which sell out well in advance.

In all cases, I've assumed a 7 day hunt and included all taxes etc, charters where needed and the trophy fee for 1 Buff.

mstarling,

10.000 US$ is about the minimum in my area.

I hope you're sitting down with a stiff drink. Trophy fees for Cape Buffalo in RSA are among the highest in Africa. Most replies that I've received about them range from $9-$14 thousand U.S.dollars.

My RSA buffalo trophy fees run $11,000 in RSA plus a $600 per day daily rate, thats pretty darn expensive IMO... I can hunt you in Tanzania for $10,550 2x1 all inclusive of charter flights, daily rates, dip and ship, everything except tips and that's optional, so you see it is quite a bit less in Tanzania..I am working with a new safari company in Mozambique and it will be a little cheaper but the Mozambique buffalo do not compare to the big bulls of Tanzania..I am getting it primarily for elephant, roan and big Leopard. I may visit there in late August after my hunt with Saeed.

If you are going to do a Buff hunt I suggest you contact HHK Safaries at www.hhksafaris.com
Graham Hingston is the owner, tell him I recommended you contact him. I just returned from a 21 day hunt in Zimbabwe. I had a great time and there were no problems. The people were very friendly. Also be sure and hunt an Elephant Cow. There is NOTHING to compare to Elephant hunting. NOTHING.
