Grilled klipspringer liver right out of the klipspringer over an open fire with the "boys". We had the standard box lunch but they wanted the klippie liver - we tried it. Very different for me but great.

My first lunch the day I flew into camp was some kind of African beef based spam. Not bad, but not exactly good either. The guys who were in the camp ahead of me were hunting elephant only and had eaten up all the meat. Everyone was very happy when I went out that afternoon and took a Buffalo. TerryR

Crane: You and your hunting partner would scare the bejasus out of me if I ever met you! Years ago, I knew a guy who had been an SAC B-52 bomber commander. He told me about required "survival" courses that the guys had to go on periodically. Part of the course was capturing, killing and eating snake. I said I would starve before doing so. He gave me a smile and said to wait after three days without food and then say that again. You guys were not starving. I'm with your PHs!

gerry 375 Croc was the one thing we felt sorry about not trying. Actually we never even thought about eating it until the next day. The flesh looked very much like fish. We skinned it and left it for the vultures which of course enjoyed it greatly. Mark MARK H. Mark: All my life as a hunter and I started at age 8 and I'm 75 today, I always heard someone say about some godawful food (like a woodchuck or a rattlesnake) "it tastes like chicken". In your case, Mark, I would recommend people to hunt with you -because you did have the good sense to walk away in the first place from that croc! Your stomach and your brain told you to walk away. What the hell else was left that could say: " Sure, eat him!"

we had a bit of diced tail out of my croc. Tasted OK, but was so tough you coulnd't chew it. The camp boys burned the carcass because it was bad luck. It stuck like burning croc for 4 days, not a pleasant odor.

Okay, in Turkey, not Africa, we were served sheep's eyeball soup. This was at the hotel we were to depart from on a hunting trip. I don't know about you, but I don't like to have my food staring back at me. .395 Family Member DRSS, po' boy member Political correctness is nothing but liberal enforced censorship

I ate some leopard ka bobs in Zim which were very good. on my buff hunt this year I ate some tripe made from my buff. It was cooked in a spicy sauce and was very good. I had the feeling the trackers and staff didn't want to give any of this away. I also had fried buff heart, liver and kidney's also very good.

OK! Here's one Zambian hunters will recognize. POLOGNA. That bright pink god awful answer to our luncheon meat. The PH said it was made from L&A's. It won't take long to figure it out. Mark MARK H. Mark: There is an old expression that "Where ignorance is bliss - it is folly to be wise". Nonetheless I'm going to ask - What the heck is POLOGNA? Being Irish I will even rush in where angels fear to tread and ask: " What are L&A's?" ( Allowing for the time difference, I intend to read your response well after I have eaten!)
