Selous Hunting Data Those of you hunting or considering hunting the Selous might find some of the information helpful, noting it is a bit dated (compiled in 2004 and based on 2003 data and previous) Garbage-in-garbage-out...but nevertheless there is a lot of data contained in this document. Such as, DYK that in 2003 54.2% of the clients hunting the Selous came from Europe, and 34.2% from the US. Or that the most popular rifle used by clients was the .375 H&H (35.4%), or that August was the most popular month followed by September, that Tony Sanchez Ariño guided 6 safaris in the Selous in from 1993-2003 - you get the picture…

Lots of data to sift through but also nice to see that someone is using the GPS data colleted and gives one an idea of game densities and movements. If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness." - Alberta Provincial Court Judge Demetrick

It's compulsory to log GPS co ordinates in the game reserves. I must be doing well, that report states a 1 in 4 success rate for Leopards...... I'm 100% Sadly, I have some doubts about it's accuracy as although the GD has been paid twice in recent years to computerise their system, licences are still written by hand. There's also a few othe suprises there, including a few PH names that I'd have expected to be there are missing. Also the number of hunts conducted by PHs are not entirely accurate.
