Well, I finally got some hunting done after moving to Cairo in August. I got in contact with Erik von Eckhart a few weeks ago and found that he was organizing a trip to The Fayoum Oasis for Ducks and Doves. He was kind enough to let me join up for a few days and doubly kind to lend me his temporarily imported 20 guage Miroku sidelock. For this, I frankly reassured Erik that he is not nearly the asshole that some on this board believe. Seriously, Erik runs a flawlessly organized trip which is truly saying something in North Africa! For those interested in possibly joining me, I am already booked to head out there again in April when the real dove hunting is on. I didn't shoot the same ducks in the photo but took nine the next morning (along with a painted snipe) and 30 doves in about an hour and a half that afternoon (would have been much more if I had been shooting better). The level of service on this hunt was exceptional and I sincerely hope that a few of you I have talked to come out and join me in April!

Best,

JohnTheGreek | ||

JohnTheGreek, Is that an "Egyptian Sand Camo" jacket? I don't think it was snowing. Congratulations on slaying as many ducks and doves as you did, wearing that jacket, your shooting must have been pretty good.

Curious: the pics are a bit small on my screen, but it looks like you've got a hen mallard and a bunch of teal. What kinds of birds do you shoot? Limits? I have to assume that they have Egyptian goose about as well, no? Unless of course that's a misnomer and I just made an ass of myself... Anyway, neat! Leighton
