Mike,

They seem to open up all the way to the end of the HP pretty quickly.

We did think of using some sort of a tip - like in the Nosler BT bullets, and then decided against it, as it will require extra work which we thought is not warranted.

Some of the petals do come of as the bullet hit the anima, but how much damage they cause I have no idea.

I suspect relatively little damage is done by them, unless one cuts open a major artery.

Saeed,

Two things...

First, after viewing the first frame and comparing it to the last frame, the 375 seems to be more pointed then the 404. Is this just visual?

Second, did you record the performance of each of the slugs you show on game? If so, is this data located in the AR archives somewhere?

BTW, do you consider the design of your bullet to be solid or soft?

Thanks,

Roger QSL

Saeed,

Do you think if you cut the ogive of those bullets and shot some animals at very close range (thus velocity loss would not be an issue)the killing power would be similar to the bullet that is blowing off the ogive?

I think I remember reading some stuff the fellow who makes Groove Bullets wrote and he seemed to be saying that the bullet was best if it blew the point off on impact.

It wouild appear that your bullets and his Groove Bullets are basically about hitting the animal with a wadcutter and the pointed ogive just reduces velocity loss.

Saeed,

Do you think those 375/404 bullets are losing the point very early after impact.

In other words are they like a wadcutter with a ballistic cap (for retained velocity) that comes off on impact.

Also, do you think the petals and bits pieces contribute much to the killing power.

The 375 are HP.
The 404 are solids.
And you are right, the 404s have a more blunt nose than the 375.

These bullets seem to penetrate just like solids, and the ones you see pictured were recovered from animals shot lengthways.

Animals that were shot broadside or quartering the bullets went completely through.

I have witness autopsy and internal damage of Saeed bullets in his 375/404...I got the impression that they opened quickly as the make a rather big entrance hole, do a heck of a lot of internal damage and whistle off into the Sudan and parts unknown I saw one the completely penetrated a big Cape Buffalo bull lengthwise and it came out high in the neck...

The 375/404 gave me a much higher opinnion of velocity when used with a properly tough bullet, it kills as well as my .470 as far as I can tell....
