Mike Podwika (Retreever) asked me to take the lead in getting this posted, so here goes.

The official (as opposed to any clever, unofficial imitiations) AR DSC Friday dinner will be on Friday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen located at 10428 Lombardy Lane (214-358-1912). Use of the party room requires a minimum bill of $1500. In the past, I understand that the dinner has been attended by at least 50 folks so with a bar bill and food tab we should be fine on the minimum, but want to get a good head count to be sure. Hell, this group may be able to meet the minimum just with the bar tab come to think of it.

The menu will include a salad, your choice of entree, your choice of dessert and tea or soda. The charge per person is $25.95. The choice of entrees is Shrimp Brochette with dirty rice, a Seafood Platter (fried shrimp, catfish, oysters, stuffed shrimp, stuffed crab and french fries) or a chargrilled or blackened fillet (with crawfish etouffee over dirty rice). The desserts are a choice of either key lime pie or creme brulee. Alcohol is extra and everyone will responsible for their own.

WHAT WE NEED IS FOR ANYONE PLANNING ON ATTENDING TO REPLY BELOW (AND INDICATE HOW MANY WILL BE IN YOUR GROUP) SO THAT WE CAN GET A GOOD HEADCOUNT. ALSO, SEE THE NOTE IN THE THREAD BELOW REGARDING HOW WE WILL HANDLE APPETIZERS AND ALCOHOL AND THE NEED TO BRING EXACT CHANGE.

Thanks, and look forward to seeing everyone.

[Retreever, if I left anything out, chime in.]

Shootaway, let me know once you determine if you can make it.

I am thinking that we can charge admission if we do the seating assignments so that Shootaway and Jorge are seated next to one another. Smiler We can start the AR DSC Scholarship Fund with the monies raised.

All kidding aside, I presume that a ground rule for the get together is that everyone will check old on-line banter at the door and enjoy the good company of the group.

Just got off the phone with Pappadeaux. Just to keep everyone on the same page (i) we are going to arrange this so that everyone will be on their own insofar as appetizers and alcohol are concerned (in other words a cash bar for those items), (ii) the gratuity is 20% for a group this size and will be added on to the final bill, and (iii) we have the party room for three hours, i.e., from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

To handle the food and tip, here is what I propose. The fixed menu is $25.95/person. With a 20% gratuity added to that, you are alittle over $31.00 a person. I would propose that everyone show up with exact change ($31.00/person) for the number of folks in their party. We can collect that when folks arrive and that way the only outstanding amounts are alcohol and appetizers that everyone is on their own for and will have to be settled up directly with the restraurant. I would ask that we do the exact change thing since with ~50 folks it is simply too hard to have to make change for everyone and not have someone spend all their time acting as the banker instead of being able to visit and enjoy the evening.

If anyone thinks the foregoing is problematic, let me know and we can explore other alternatives.

Four slots left and then we will start a waiting list in the event some have to drop off. I have talked to the folks at Pappadeaux and the room will really only seat 50, any other seating would be at tables just outside the room.

Down to a handful of slots and then on to waiting list. Pappadeaux now says they can actually accommodate 55, so 6 slots left. For those that have attended in previous years will the room reasonably accommodate 55?
