Dr B,
I have a used Searcy Red Label in .338WinMag with 20 guage barrels. Searcy doesn't do these anymore.Must be early Searcy from when he was converting shotguns. Mine is a fun gun, for $1995 used, I did not order it, just rescued it from the used rack.
More desirable in .470 NE plus 12 guage.
Whatever the market will bear.

Mike, Butch makes multi-barrel sets for his doubles. I was in Butch's shop last week and handled a 470 double that had a set of 12 guage barrels with it. It belongs (will belong) to a poster on this site.

Do you mean the one up on Gunbroker for a hair under $8,000?
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=31097203Well, look at it this way. A new Blaser double in 470 will set you back at least $10,000.
I would contact the seller and be very sure of their return policy! As soon as the gun arrived, I would have a good smith take a look at it.

IMO - MUCH, MUCH less than the $8K refrenced above. You can find a Searcy PH used for that kind of money.
Just for a curio, 8K is way too much. If I saw it for $1995 I would grab it. I wouldn't go out of my way reaching for it, however. a .470 NE really ought to be in a SxS.

the_captainWhat about the single trigger in a setup like this? In my mind, a double rifle should have two triggers. The redundancy/reliability inherent in the double rifle concept seems to lose quite a bit when you use just one trigger for both barrels. That's just my opinion, though - anyone more learned than myself have anything to add?

jeffeossobutch will make you barrels for his new guns.. and i've seen several converted shotguns from him with both barrels...
my guess is that a 470 with a 12 ga barrel, if it shoots well, would be 3500-4500...
if my build goes well, that's what i would WANT to get from a dual barrel setup, but I aint anything like as good as butch...
a merkel can be had for 6500 if you hunt... at least it could be a year ago.
so, here's what I seeing:
it's an OU
it's got 1 trigger (so it cant double)
it does have 12 ga barrels
so, whatever you are willing to pay

For that price you have a whole range of real doubles to choose from.

500lies,

My Searcy Ruger Red Label set in .338WinMag and 20 guage O/U (2 sets of stack barrels) was purchased as an educational prop so that I could enlighten other's as to the polar opposite of a quality DG double rifle, such as the Merkel 140-A in 470 NE.
Of course, if one is shooting feral hogs and doves in Tennessee, the "idiot's double rifle" that I have, .338WM/20g, is just fine.

500lies,
Yes that brings us back to the lie that I supposedly made up about myself and then blamed you for creating?

Kid, you are truly an idiot in the IQ sense. Yes, that means you Dan.
I just finished a year as a full time hospitalist and am now enjoying the easy life in an occupational medicine (whoo whoo) clinic setting (easiest job of my life), hence have some time to play here. I fear it won't last long and I will soon be back at the hospital grindstone. I assure you that I have not lost any hospital privileges, that my situation is entirely at will, voluntary, chosen by me, and I am not being punished or sanctioned by anyone, just living the easy life, and the place I was before has already asked when I can come back, though I have signed a contract with a third party for the coming year. It is a hassle when you are as in demand as I am.
Let the next episode of the Jerry Springer show begin!

500lies,
Why don't you tell me about this poop you have on me? Otherwise just shut up and don't address me, and I won't address you unless your lies are just so stupid that I can't help myself.
500lies,
You really have become the creepiest little troll I have ever seen in 5 years at accuratereloading.com.
Now go suck your thumb and pout some more. Cry yourself to sleep and see if I care.

lawndartHey Ron,
Do you want to do flight physicals at the occupational medicine office? I just got my eye machine up and running. A friend from med school gave it to me. I only had to buy a new power cord/rectifier for $175.00. I hope to never go back to working in a hospital; I did my time.
The clinic is up 15% over last year. At this rate we'll break even in 2005. In three years I'll need a partner. The mandatory monthly safety meetings are at the Parma Gun Club. The mandatory quarterly clinic board meetings rotate between Steelhead fishing on the Clearwater River, Chukar hunting in Hell's Canyon, Athletic physicals at the local Mormon college (heads I get the girls, tails you get the guys) and duck hunting out of a canoe on the Snake River. Bowling for buffalo by appointment only.
No ties, white coats or shoes with tassles allowed.
If you are an early riser you are welcome to the morning shift. I work 13:00 to 21:00. You have to cover when I am off on a short deployment with the Army. I'll cover while you are in Africa. No buy in; eat whatever you kill.

500grainsJeeez Ron, take a Midol. There's no need to keep getting wrapped around the axle. I don't even know why you have a sore spot about this.
lawndart,
Sounds like heaven.

500lies,
Up yours.
