Thanks Walker,I think the video in question is the "Jaws of Simba" video. If so,it doesn't show that much or you got to buy the video to see the whole thing. The link is working know, your right it is not the canned hunt video.I don't know how the camera guy can just stay there and film the whole thing unless it is happening so fast that what is really happening has not yet sunk in.

I remember that from OLN's Dangerous Game series. The Lion was laying there when the hunters came upon him. It tensed up up and looked at them like it was saying "Shoot me and I'll kill you"! It was a fierce look! So the PH lined up the hunter, who took the shot and WOW the lion charged like it got shot full of adrenaline! My wife and I watched in amazement as it was taking bullet hits but charged without faltering or losing stride. ( they showed again it in slomo and you can clearly see the bullets hitting) The PH's gun was empty by this time, so, as a last resort he held the rifle out in front of him. ( kinda like presenting a rifle to the sarg for inspection) The lion grabbed it and whirled the PH to the ground. The hunter and trackers moved in closer shooting the lion in the head. essentially killing it on top of the PH. It's been awhile since I saw the whole thing but that's as best as I can recollect.

Peter Chipman was on the receiving end of that charge, and I believe he does use a .470 Merkel these days - not from personal knowledge, but I did see him carrying one while hunting hippo with a South African PH on the OLN TV show.

.366torque,thanks for the details.Did the trackers and hunter get as close as putting the muzzle on the lions head? How did they kill the lion without shooting the PH? Where did the lion take the bullets while charging?

That's a pretty amazing video! The image size and quality were kind of crappy, but you could still clearly tell what was going on. I wish there were more of the footage so I could see what happened after they finally brought the lion down.
PS - for those who aren't sure, this is NOT another repost of that reprehensible canned charge video, this is the real deal!
