With the difficulties with importation of GS FN's has any one turned Barnes solids or X's backwards and loaded them. This should give a Flat Nosed solid monometal that seems to be the rage. Any ideas or experience? Thanks "D"

Assuming your not just kidding around with your question, I can assure you that there is absolutely no reason to turn either of these fine Barnes bullets around. They work wonderfully well in my experience. Yes a pedal does come off once in a while but it's still devestating on buffalo. The solids go through from any angle and in my rifle shoot very accurately. I wouldn't recommend turning any bullet around unless you're very fast and can climb trees faster than the local baboons!

I recall reading a story set in the Horn of Africa where the intrepid heros pulled a bullet from a .270 cartridge with pliers, and seated it backwards. The new "solid" was used to terminate a problem elephant with extreme prejudice.

The .270 was the only gun remaining in camp after some calamity or other.

I don't know of any other cases where this was done.

Jim,
Yes, I have done that and I have turned the noses flat off the TCCI solids and the Barnes solids...It was all in vein as nothing would feed...

I think the x bullets would tend to turn and to skid about (shot backwards) as I got that impression shooting them into dry magazines...One thing I have noticed about monolithic bullets is that if you use the heaviest bullet weight for a caliber it tends ot Bend and loose petals, but drop down to the next weight and things come back together or so it seems to me...

That said, GS and Bridger seemed to have solved all my problems..apparantly there is a delivery problem with GS, but Bridger bullets look the same and may be as good..I usually have someone pickup my bullets as GS is in Port Elizabeth and my PH lives there...He sends them to me with my hunters.
