Dutch44They were $600.00 a head. Not enough meat on 'em to physic a woodpecker.

crshelton376steyer,
I have a friend with a high fenced ranch just south of you at Hondo and he always has Watusi and longhorns there. If you want horn and meat, I recommend the longhorn steers.

jdollari give up. why would you want to go out in a pasture and shoot a domestic cow( even an African one)?? i shot an angus heifer 6 months ago in my pasture and we have been eating her ever since, but wasn't much of a hunt...

jwmThe trophy/skinning shack in the Caprivi camp I stayed in had one of these skulls in it. I don't know if it was a Watusi, but it was some domestic breed with horns spanning over four feet. Apparently a previous hunter had bought it for bait (lion, hyena, I dunno...) and decided it was so cool he wanted to send it home with his hunting trophies.
Do people actually "hunt" these things?

cal pappasFor years I have wanted a big set of Watusi horns and would welcome the chance to shoot one for bait for them.

Bren7X64The Johannesburg Public Library had a set of horns upstairs over one of the doors which was from a "beef" from Central Africa somewhere where they were wild near a lake with a concentration of minerals in it - they were just over 6 foot tip-to-tip (IIRC).
So, yep, impressive. And they were wild. Ask the Aussies about how tame feral animals are .....
