Senegalese men caught with tusks Johannesburg - Two Senegalese men were arrested for the alleged illegal possession of seven elephant tusks in Milnerton, Cape Town on Monday, Western Cape police said. Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said police caught the men "red-handed" with the tusks after a tip-off from a local security company. When police arrived two Chinese men sped off in a Volvo. They threw bags containing elephant tusks out of the car window, he said. The two Senegalese men, aged 41 and 37, were waiting in a Volkswagen Golf. The police searched the Golf and found more elephant tusks. Traut said a total of seven tusks were found. "We are not sure if the Volvo was off-loading the tusks into the Golf or the other way round," he said. The two men arrested were expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court once they had been charged.
