I must admit to being a novice on more than a few issues but totally a novice on the size of Leopard -- how much will a med - good - and monster leopard weigh and what will the length be - also never seem to read hear what the final and official book measurements are - assume that being the L + W of the skull.

OMG!-- my bow is "pull-push feed" - how dreadfully embarrasing!!!!!

I would suggest that an edition of the Safari Club International Record Book (Africa edition) would give some help. Keep in mind that a truly good leopard need not be some kind of "record book" animal. A 90 lb leopard can be a magnificent looking trophy.

For weight a leopard at 150 lbs is a big cat...Learning to look at heads for the males have a large head compared to the females...When looking for leopard sign...I remember this...When one finds the first track, get a twig and measure it across and break the twig to its width and then use it for comparison....

My leopard weighed 165 pounds on accurate scales. I shot him prior to feeding so his tank was empty. Stretched out and measured straight line (not over the curves) peg to peg he was 7 feet 6 inches. His skull scored 16. A friend shot a huge male in the Lowveld in Zim that weighed 180 and scored 16 5/8. The PH said it was the biggest cat he had ever had a hunter take.
The Boddington video on Leopard is an accurate source of good info. If you want to get a leopard, it is a good investment!

This reminds me of an old one.

Q: "What's a Grecian urn?"

A: "About 200 drachmas a year."

Ba da boom!

My leopard was a mature, 7" 4" tom. What should he have weighed?

Who knows?

Mine, shot in July, when pickins' were slim, weighed in at maybe 100 pounds, more or less.

If he'd have weighed more, I'd have had more trouble hoisting him over my shoulders. Big Grin

If I'd have shot him in October, the fat old cat would've bent my back a bit more, no doubt.

But he's mine, and he'll do.

And he's my best, you can be sure, until my next, God willing!

it really depends on the area you are hunting. good leopards in one area may be 120#'s and in another be 150+ the largest I know of come from the lowveld in zim, there a 150 is not all that uncommon. I did take one over 200, but that little episode took 54 days on hunting
