Is the magazine Hatari Times still being produced? I ask because I visited the website with the intention of signing up for a subscription and the webpage on the 'latest' issue refers to the year 2005, as being current, and the past issues, on the subscription form, all seem to be from that time, too. I would definitely sit on my checkbook. I can't remember my last issue... On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died. If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch... Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son! - Rudyard Kipling Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

The last issue I remember receiving was the issue about Australia, and I couldn't tell you when I received it, other than, it was sometime last year. Graybird "Make no mistake, it's not revenge he's after ... it's the reckoning."

What a shame - the copies of the magazine, that I have borrowed in the past, were excellent. "White men with their ridiculous civilization lie far from me. No longer need I be a slave to money" (W.D.M Bell) www.cybersafaris.com.au

I am 99% sure Hatari Times is still running. Bwanamrm and I had a dust-up the last time this came up. I think I may have received one issue since then, and that was a couple of years ago.... I guess Bwanamrm was correct, and I was wrong. It is too bad. Hatari time is(was?) a great magazine. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

And I take no joy in being "right". I agree it was a unique magazine with a unique perspective on Africa and I miss it... I talked to Harold Wolfe last January in Reno. He had some health problems the previous year but was mending and planning his next elephant hunt. Hopefully that'll give him some matirial to write about. Randy

An email from Harald; Dear Friends and subscribers to Hatari Times. Its only a few days before the new SCI-Convention in Reno. I will be there again, sharing booth # 129 with my old friends from Buffalo Safaris Australia. I apologuize for not having published a fresh edition of Hatari Times for some time. Unfortunately, I had a few health problems last year - nothing really serious, but unfortunately enough to cancle 2 trips to Africa (injured myself twice while splitting firewood, and on top of that caught a nasty infection while in hospital). Since I want to stick to my policy of only publishing real authentic 1st hand experiences instead of using archive material, this meant NO Hatari Times for quite a while. Good new is that I am gearing up for another elephant hunt in spring, building a ver yinteresting big .600 Nitro rifle for a feature article. Last year saw a few changes of my gun business. For years I had been planing on a new rifle production based on Chas. Newtons genious Leverbolt Rifle design, which never went into production. I spent the better part of 2008 physically building a few prototype rifles, which turned out much more difficult and time consuming than I had thought. But finally the product, the 1st Newton Arms Leverbolt Rifles from regular production, turned out so well that it was surely worth all the time end efford. In actual fact, I revived the Newton Arms and Leverbolt Rifle brand names. I will bring a .30-06 Mod. Stalker (standard length small ring action) and an almost finished (in the white) Dangerous Game Rifle in .375 H&H (large magnum action) to the SCI-Convention. Come and have a look! Since the Newton Arms Leverbolt Rifle is the natural evolution of the Mauser 98, I will also build them in 3 different action sizes from Kurz (small) and medium legth small ring and large ring to a large magnum action. I am quite excited about this venture. I am already gearing-up for a limited production run with 1st deliveries in late summer/early fall 2009. See you in Reno Best Regards Harald Wolf
