The latest on this issue is that AA is talking to NRA about fixing the problem which stems from fines they have received from the UK government because of firearms transportation violations. If BA can figure it out then AA can too. Last week I flew twice through Heathrow on BA, both times with a rifle, and BA handled it flawlessly - thanks, no doubt, to BA's experience and the assistance I received from Kathi in complying with BA's (and, by extension, the UK's) rules.
