Subject: Industrial action impacting British Airways flights

Dear Customer

British Airways check-in at London Heathrow Terminals 1 and 4 has been
suspended temporarily as a result of approximately 1000 of our staff taking
unofficial industrial action in areas across the operation. We understand
the cause of the stoppage is staffs support of the Gate Gourmet unofficial
industrial action.

We are working to resolve the issues and aim to resume our schedule as soon
as possible.

Operational update
The remainder of todays short haul roundtrip services have been cancelled,
and a number of aircraft due to land at London Heathrow are being diverted.

We expect significant longhaul cancellations out of and into London
Heathrow today.

Options for customers
Customers due to travel into or out of Heathrow on services that have been
cancelled or delayed (2 hours or more for shorthaul / 4 hours or more for
longhaul) are covered by the options available in the Standard Commercial
Policy. This is applicable for affected customers due to travel up to
23:59 (local time) on 11 August 2005 and available on ba.com at

British Airways has cancelled all flights into and out of London Heathrow airport until at least 6pm on Friday 12 August

This follows the suspension of all British Airways' Heathrow flights this afternoon as a result of unofficial industrial action by staff from catering company Gate Gourmet. This unofficial action spread to British Airways ground staff.

Due to the uncertainty of the industrial situation at Heathrow and aircraft and flying crew being out of position, the airline has taken the decision to cancel all flights until tomorrow evening.

We apologise unreservedly to our customers.
