I am leaving on the 9th of June to start hunting with Dudley on the 11th for 15 days. I understand I'll be hunting with PH Kirk Mason in the Gokwe North area or down near Gonarozou Park. Dudley told me they had been seeing some big tuskers this year. I am hunting trophy ele, buffalo and leopard. I'm sure some plains game will be on the menu, too.

Thanks for the pictures. It gets me even more anxious.

Bwanna you should be anxious. You are going to have a good time. Ask Kirk about the time the elephant cow caught him. Yikes!!!

Els and Bwana,

I too shot my bull ele with Dudley in the Gonghue River drainage...There was a herd of over 35 bulls...They split and the herd we went in on had 24 bulls and we stalked up to 30 feet when I shot my bull with a 458 Lott...Ivory was 30lbs.per...
Any body who was at the Dallas safari club convention and saw the head mount of the bull in the back room, that ele had close to 85lbs. per tusk...Dudley got him also with his client..
I also shot my buf with Kirk...Ryan have a great trip....Make the shots...

Thanks Mike, this thing came together so fast, I feel like a was cheated on some of the fun of the anticipation, but I'm excited nonetheless. Luckily, Ruger got my .458 Lott back to me in less than a week. I am going to go shoot it with the new stock tomorrow. I appreciate your offer to take your .458. It's good to know there are people willing to help in an "emergency."

Ernie is being modest guys...his bull weighed in over 60 pounds per side green! One hell of a bull for Zim (or anywhere) and he shot it with his .450-.400 3"...an interesting story. Details els, details...

actually they weighted 56 and 57 green. How much weight do they lose when they are dry? The one I shot was in a group of 4. I think they all went over 35 to the side. A fellow that was hunting with Kirk when I was shooting PAC Shot a bull that went well into the 40's on both sides.

Great times I sure hope to get back soon.

I know the owner of www.rangemasteroutfitters.com.

He's hunted BULL ELLIE five times successfully with Dudley Rogers www.tshabezisafaris.com in recent years.

His photo is on the opening page of the site, top right section, with the HUGE tusks still in the skull.

Range Master web site has many photo's, check them out, they are GOOD!

Thanks Retreever and els for the recent telephone calls. You guys and your encouragement don't make it any easier to concentrate on trying to get everything done to get out of here. But, thanks anyway. I really enjoy speaking to you. I went today and got 4457's on 4 new rifles, now to decide what to take. Your advice on the 30-06 was good Retreever, I'm taking it.

Joy and Happiness. Got the e-mail that my tusks will leave Zim some time this week. How long does it usualy take for them to get here??? I can't wait.

They will not be capped. Any recommendations on who I should have put the caps on and put them on the iron wood stands that are coming with them?

Has anyone had a fiberglass copy of your tusks made. How expensive is it etc, etc,

Ernest
