I was reading the Mozambique chapter in African Hunter 2 last night and it sounds like a fascinating area. If anyone has hunted there in the past 3 years please can they contact me or let us know what it is like, specifically for Buffalo,Leopard and plainsgame. Thanks

Scott, If you are talking far northern Moz. You are probably looking at the Niassa Game Reserve area. Niassa is a pretty closely monitored park that is really trying to manage the hunting that borders it. My understanding is the park can dictate rules for the hunting blocks around it. They have implemented the 6 yr. old lion rule and are going to be strict on it starting next year. Hunting is broken up into four blocks(I believe). I am most familiar with Blocks A and C who is hunted and operated by Luwire Safaris. The main PH for Luwire is Derek Littleton. Derek is a former Zim PH that hunted in Zim for many years with other top Zim PHs. That is a good thing. This area books pretty far in advance. Bruce Grant with Grant Adventures International is the only booking agent for them 941-776-3029. I am off for 19 days to hunt Lion, hippo, croc, and 2 buffalo with them next year. As far a Leopard are concern this area is a close to the Luangwa Valley you will get. It is crawling with Leopard. On average the size won't be quite as big as the Southern Zimbabwe leopards, but still great animals are taken. Bruce Grant killed a leopard with a bow in this area. Ask him about it. There were 3 leopards on the bait. Two of them starting fighting 8 yards in front of his bow blind. Buff and good also, but you won't have the numbers that you will in the Valley. You will find the cost in this area easier on the pocket book, than the Valley, but still more than Zim for comparison. Blocks B,D I am less familiar with but I do know the Jumbo Moore was hunting B. The rest I do not know. If elephant is ever on the list for you. You will not find bigger elephant anywhere in Africa. True big ivory is still there. But we can't bring it back to the US. Good Luck.
