SSCI was founded in the 1950s in Chicago. It has nothing to do with The Shikar Club,SCI, or any other organization.

I have a Louisiana friend who has been a member for years. He is very wealthy and a total gentlemen. He hunted many times with Harry Selby. Harry attended his wedding in Vic Falls. BUTCH C'est Tout Bon (It is all good)

My comments are general statements not directed at anyone person. I see a hunter who may travel the world the same as the guy who hunts to eat. Some may say they do but we all know that is a joke. And for any of you to think you know me and what I stand for is a joke at best. Some don't like to face the facts we are divide as a group. Then those that say they do understand throw out the wealth bs or the jealous card. I can assure you I do just find for myself and not jealous of anyone on here or care how much more money someone has then me. I support hunters and hunters right if I like something or not. Now that can not be said by everyone because there ethics lets them see there side only. I am done with this thread because I helped it get off topic and it is doing no good for hunters keeping this kind of stuff going.

So let me get this straight, if somebody has the means to go on hunt that some others cant and enjoy the company of people with similiar interests they shouldnt because a few might feel threatened and just plain jealous? There's always going to be folks who think the world is unfair. Seems to me the perception of a problem isnt with the folks who belong to groups like Shikar Safari it's with the folks who feel threatened because they don't. You just cant run around defining your life by that. There are lots of hunts i would love to do but it just plain isnt going to happen, but I sure dont feel jealous of those who do. Besides I at least enjoy reading about it in places like this forum. As a guy i worked for many years ago loved to say, "suck it up buttercup"! In the final analysis, these people have done a lot of good. For example, the $1 million presented to the NRA Hunter's Leadership Forum. Personally, I never hear publication, bragging or otherwise boasting of these deeds. Accordingly, it seems to me that they are a positive for the sport of hunting. We need more people/organizations like this. What's the problem?

The fact that so many have not heard of them is probably a good indication that the group is worthwhile and quietly goes about fulfilling its mission. Seems to be an inverse relationship in most instances between the amount of time an organization spends tooting its own horn and the effectiveness of the organization (same thing is true with most people it seems too). I have never heard a single negative regarding Shikar. Mike

Seems like a interesting organization that makes/made great contributions to the industry. Wouldnt mind getting my hands on one of their publications.

I probably shouldn't post this as cameras are not allowed at the meetings to prevent this sort of thing, but here is a smuggled pict from a recent gathering: Sounds like a group of people who share common interests, doing what they enjoy and some good deeds along the way....great for them!
