Just wondering here, who does the burning in the Selous. Good shooting.

Actually the fires start all by themselves as if by magic ......... it's strictly illegal to burn in the the Selous and other areas, so no-one ever knows how the fires get started.

Generally, it's done by the hunting parties themselves.

To be a PH or a tracker in the Selous, you must also be a certified pyromaniac.

Yeah, I think I lit more fires than cartridges when I was there.

Quite a different attitude about fire there. You ride down the channels and trails with all on board holding large boxes of kitchen matches striking them and throwing them out into the grass. Burn the world down! Hope you don't throw a rod or some such about the time the grass gets going good right behind you. It could get rather warm. Good hunting. "D"

My son and I leave Sunday. Anyone have information regarding the rains in the last month or so? We are hoping the grass has been burned and the buffalo have settled down a bit.

Anyone else on the Atlanta-Jo'berg flight or the Monday flight to Dar?

Wish us luck, and I will post when we get back in Sept.

Later,

Keith
