I bought 2 pairs from Long-Grass (http://www.long-grass.com/) some years ago and still haven't worn out the first pair I opened. They work very well and are virtually indestructible.

They're available many other places, but they're not high tech, so they're about the same construction and cost wherever you buy them.

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.

Ankle gaiters is we call them on this side of the pond.

I found that with the ready-made type the elastic is tight around the ankle. That bugged me, so I made my own.

I got hold of some fine suple goat skin off-cuts, dyed them the required shade of green. Stiched them on a domestic sewing machine. Job done. Too easy.

gaiters or spats .
If u are hunting in Zim, or most places in Africa for that matter, I have found that most of the camps have at least one guy who knows what he is doing with leather. I had a really nice pair made up from some Eland skin by a camp hand in the Save. They didnt have elastic in them at all , but a small piece of Velcro, which makes them that much easier to fit and wear

Blatant but I make them, cotton with velcro. 20 bucks. No elastic, as the elastic versions can get too tight when legs start swelling during the day. The velcro allows infinite adjustment.

Leather is nice looking but takes forever to dry after getting wet.

I am not sure where I got mine. I even wear them in the states from time to time when I am dove hunting in the morning. Especially if I am wearing shorts. They keep my socks a bit dryer and keep the laces from catching on a sunfower stem and coming untied.
