Kruger poacher shot dead
14/12/2007 13:43 - (SA)

Johannesburg - A poacher was shot dead by Kruger National Park (KNP) rangers on Friday, the park said.

Spokesperson Raymond Travers said the incident happened after midnight at the game reserve.

It is alleged an unknown number of poachers walked into the KNP ranger patrol in the Stolsnek Section, south-west of the park.

"A gun battle ensued between the rangers and the poachers. One of the poachers was killed. We are working with the police to find the rest of the group," said Travers.

He said various weapons, including a highly modified hunting rifle, a home-made shot gun, spotlights and camouflage uniforms were confiscated.

Poaching is bad because:

1- it messes up things
2- you might get shot and killed

375 fanatic,

I have forgotten to say this is to a PAC hunt: Poaching Animal Control. Ivory can very easily be set in temporary dentures and brought into any country as personal items. If you want to be sure that you are not harassed by some customs official, you may have to visit your dentist and have your own teeth pulled and replaced by dentures. You can then have a set of false pads made so thet the ivory of your trophy can simply be inserted into pre-prepared holes and glued in place with gum-colored epoxy glue. This is available from any good dental mechanic.

As some poachers may be female, it would be inappropriate to refer to taxidermy in terms of "mounts"! To refer to the taxidermy works as "stuffing" would also be politically incorrect. Rather be neutral and refer to the taxiderm as "preservation artworks" and use a phrase like "statue position".

More info on the baited lion hunts, which can be taken as an add-on after your succesful poacher hunt, available on my web page at http://www.mclarensafaris.com
