Bill CThat is a great looking mount, especially when viewed from the side. And a fine trophy too.

Jeff AlexanderI got my limpopo bushbuck back from the taxidermist today. I had them mount him in a "sneak" position, because that is how I shot him. Of all the animals I took in Zimbabwe, this was the best shot I made the entire trip. I shot him across a river, at around 250 yards. It was the furthest I've ever shot an animal in my life. Anyway he's only an average bushbuck (14"), but he's a trophy to me! Jeff

BFaucettJeff,
Very nice! I really like the pose. My Limpopo Bushbuck is also 14". Its my favorite trophy so far (I've been to SA twice) and I'm very proud of him. In my book, FWIW, any decent Bushbuck is a real trophy. I know you're proud of him and you will have great memories every time that you look at him.
Congrats and thanks for sharing the photo....

Widowmaker416Hey Jeff!
that's a hell of a nice Bushbuck! 14 inches is a big Ram, you have something to really be proud of! That's a nice mount by the way, I'm a taxidermist in the Northeast, I like the pose. I've shot 3 Limpopo Bushbucks, (so far) I think they are alot of fun to go after and a sharp looking trophy. Mine are 14" 15" 17", I'm doing them all together, I'll post when I get them done. Who did you hunt with in Zimbabwe? I see your from San Diego, my safari company does business there. Your name sounds like I've heard it before. please get in touch with me.....
Thanks, As always, good hunting!!!!

Jungli BainsThat's a fine trophy. Your idea of having him mounted that way was a good one.

RikkieA 14" Bushbuck is NOTHING to scoff at!
Well done!

BoghossianA great animal with clean lines and poise that not all species have.
It is a grand idea to have it immortalised in the sneaking position, instead of having a roomful of animals with arched necks like dressage horses.

Jeff AlexanderThanks eveyone for the nice comments. Bushbuck hunting was a lot of fun! And bushbuck meatloaf is right up there with Eland.
Now I'm saving to get my waterbuck mounted. I'm on the "taxidermy - 4 year plan". It's going to take me 4 years to able to afford to get all my beasties mounted.
In the meantime, I'm going back to collect more

Jeff

SevensA very fine looking trophy. I don't think 14 inches is what I'd consider average though. I too very much enjoy the look of the sneak position. It's amazing what choosing a different pose that's not normally used can do to the beauty of an animal. I've a Hawaiian black sheep mounted in the sneak position. My taxidermist urged me to try and fined one with a good mane. The sneak position really shows off the beauty of his mane and is a good change from the normal upright position you always see the sheep in. I can't wait to see some more of your trophies. If you have more than your African trophies mounted, have you considered posting them in the "trophy room" section? You seem to have great taste in mount poses.

CustomstoxJeff,
That is a beautiful mount and a beautiful trophy. The bushbuk I got in Natal was 13" and was the last animal I shot before I left. I really like your mount and wish I had seen it before I had mine done. Your taxidermist did a beautiful job. I had 8 heads done all at once. Unfortunately, my wife wanted my North American trophies out of the living room and wanted it devoted to African animals. I assured her that they would not crossbreed but she ended up getting her way. It did allow me to have trophies in more rooms, like the family room and the office/den/catchall.

Eric AnsgarA great way to mount your ram.... remember that this little guy if given a chance would have tried to gore and kill you.....

dakota45056Jeff, A handsome trophy! A lot of hunters who never have hunted them realize what a challenging hunt they are. Most of the folks I know who shoot them do it as more of an opportunity animal, but not as a selective hunt.
Good Show!
