Friend has booked a hunt for this Spring and has one opening and offered it to me. Plains game. Turned it down at first - sort of short notice and I would prefer my trip to Africa to ahve Cape Buffalo as the primary game but wondering if anyone had experience or knowlege that might sway me one way or the other. Would have been better to have posted this in the Hunting Reports - Africa forum? NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

Paul, this is the correct forum, but bear in mind that there are umpteen outfitters in SA, and it is possible none of the active members know of this particular outfit. In case this jogs anybody's memory, their website is: http://www.kuche.co.za/index.asp?item=1281&MenuID=986, PH is Koos de Meyer. Assuming this is a good outfit, operating a nice camp on a decently-sized fenced property in SA, with good quality game that is naturally reproducing at competitive prices…the real question is do you want to hunt plainsgame with your buddy or go right for a buffalo/plainsgame safari? Most on the forum, who have done it either way, suggest going right for the buffalo (dangerous game) first assuming you have some prior hunting experience. My first trip was to SA w/my son, and I learned a lot on that trip, it was a good warmer-upper. Also shot a lot of plainsgame that cost me a lot to ship and mount. Next trip was for buffalo and every one since has included DG plus whatever plainsgame was available in that area. Regards, Bill
