Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just received Tanzania Game Tracker Safaris' new brochure. During the 2001 season, a client took a 50" (16.5" boss) from the Maswa Game Reserve. [From the picture, it is dificult to see the boss, but he has deep curls and his hooks are really worn down. I'll bet he was something to see when he was younger (not that he is bad to look at now)].

The same client also took a 48" (11" boss) from the Kigosi Game Reserve. [From the picture, the bull doesn't have really deep curls, but he is wide and has long sharp hooks].

All this during a 16 day safari.

I scanned the pictures and put them on Webshots (I didn't see any copyright restrictions on the brochure - so I think this is OK):

Terry

The secret to those big Tanzania Buffalo is 16 days and 3 Buffalo licenses or better yet 21 days and 3 Buffalo permits....Time in the field is the whole ball of wax....

Do not expect to do this on a 5 or 7 day 2x1 hunt, sure you could, but the odds are with the longer hunts...

Most 21 day hunts get Buff in the high 40's with some 50's every year.

I book for Tanzania Game Trackers and they are the elite of all Africa in my opinnion. I am particularly fond of Mark Selby who is the ultimate PH, but they have a staff of famous PH's, the place is a literally a museum of old famous elephant hunters out of the Kenya and Mozambique Game fields. Its double rifles and sundowners, now it just doesn't get any better than that!!!

Sure they are expensive, but if one is going around the world and spending $10,000. any way you cut it, that couple of thousand difference is a good investment in my book...but you would be surprised how many hunts are lost over a couple of hundred bucks.

Ray,
That was great! You had me reaching for the checkbook when my wife pinned my hand to the table with the letter opener!

That is one very lucky hunter! Not only are those buffalo wide but they also possess very good bosses, something not all of the wide one do. I doubt one hunter in 50 is lucky enough to take two buffalo like those on the same hunt.

That one that is suppose to be 48" looks every bit of it, and nice shape. What a buff.

The supposed 50" buff doesn't look anywhere near 50" but hard to tell from the poor photo.

Another up-and-comer PH that TGT has is Ernst Scholz. I've hunted with him including a couple times in his native Namibia. Ernst is very hard working and a no b.s. kind of guy. He is currently at the Houston Show and will be at Vegas also working the TGT booth.

Wendell,
Ernst was in Dallas you just must have missed him, like trying to find me at my booth, I'm never there. Hoffman was leading me around making me spend my money and I was hiding from Mims because I bought one of Butches rifles...

Terry:

I saw the 50" skull/horns in Vegas. It is absolutely huge!

Not only 50" but as massive as any buff I've ever seen. It is the epitomy of a hunter's dream; maybe one of the best buffalo ever. What a buffalo. Nickudu eat your heart out!

Photos cannot do this buff justice!

Ray,
I know you'll do your best. Shot 60 rounds, 12 rounds of .505, 28 rounds of .416 and 20 rounds of .375, from the bench the other day, first time to the range this year. I seem to be shooting somewhat better these days, now that I can't even see my crosshairs wobbling. I'm ready for Tanz.

Will,
You've got your "cruel shoes" on today. You didn't take a picture for me?
