Okay...So I have mostly been told that some of the best chances at big trophy Elephant are in Botswana. I just recieved a copy of African Hunter II and in it Boddington says that Zim, TZ, Borders of the Kruger and Mozambique all probably have a few giant elephant. He says that every year a few giant ele's will be taken in Zim...then goes on to sa that Botswana has produced no great elephant since it reopened and also that historically Bots has produced very few huge elephant. Whats the deal?

The most recent 100 pounders taken came from Namibia (but boy was that tusk ugly) and Tz - Bulldog, i believe from your earlier post, you were looking at 55 lbs range as your min target - and Bots has a very good chance at producing that average consistenly. All other countries mentioned by you above can produce those plus much larger ones - Bots probably gives you the best chance at that average on your first safari - At least this is my readin gof the situation "...Them, they were Giants!" J.A. Hunter describing the early explorers and settlers of East Africa hunting is not about the killing but about the chase of the hunt.... Ortega Y Gasset

there is a bit of an alternative. going into zim and getting into the gonarezhou area. Thee are some huge eles there and they do venture out of the park. I shot a 55 this year, last year there was a 80, and then again this year theres been a 77 and a 69 gotten. Jumbo moore does well in this area, and the costs are about half.
