I finally joined DSC, and plan to attend the convention in January. I see DSC is booking rooms at the Hyatt. Is that the best choice? Where will others be staying?

Many AR members stay at the comfort inn at 7138 N. Stemmons.

Mike-
I see that is 5.0 miles from the DSC Convention Center arena. Is there a shuttle, how do you get back and forth?

Marty,

Book a room at Aloft. It is right across the street from the convention center. Literally a three minute walk. I have stayed there the last two years. Buzz and Myles are booked there too.

Aloft is clearly the closest hotel. Just one block away.

I stay at Magnolia, also well within walking distance (even with a half case of beer in your backpack).

Marty: DSC has room "blocks" at more than one hotel in the convention center area so you have somewhat of a choice, check the DSC website for additional hotels; as of yesterday the room blocks were 76% reserved. ddrhook...CityView or Camden?

Marty,
There are fancier and closer hotels if that is important to you, but the Comfort Inn is a relaxing place with many AR members staying there. Also, a party is held there one night for AR members. Getting to and from the show is usually no problem. Other members are willing to share a ride.

Thanks, everyone. I just booked two rooms at the Aloft for my friends and myself. I'm looking forward meeting as many fellow AR members as possible.

I'm at the Magnolia this year. I was less than impressed with the Hyatt last year.

I like the Adolphus in Dallas. It's not far, but you will need a ride to the convention center. They closed the best of the three bars in the hotel recently, so that's a big negative, but overall, it's a good hotel and relatively close. Plus, my firm has a corporate rate.

Retreever brings up a good point, the new convention center hotel is supposed to be opening before Christmas, though one or tow of the bars may not be operational . I believe their rates will compare with the other nearby hotels so I suppose that would be another option. I've been in the hotel and it is nice!
